Muir Woods is the first National Monument in the United States managed by the National Park Service that was an effort to protect the Redwoods from logging in California, famously named after Naturalist John Muir. Because of its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest lives under a canopy of tall old growth Redwood trees that are pristine, shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. These stylized multi-layered charms are encircled with gold or silver.
